Two Lines In Motion is the ending of a triptych work for flute and marimba titled Around D. The idea for this piece was to present three stylistically distinct ways  for pitch class “d” to be central character. Although the title for this work implies a horizontal organization and linear musical narrative, the different overlapping or layering of gestures is the device that generates the changes from one section of the work to another.
