Little Ice Age
6 pieces for piano
duration ~ 16:00 minutes
It is estimated that the Late Antique Little Ice Age took place sometime in the 6th or 7th centuries. Recent climate studies suggest that the cooling of temperature during this time contributed to a radical transformation of Europe and Asia, as it led to political upheavals in China, the collapse of the Roman Empire, and even the first bubonic plague. This music is not directly inspired by any of these events, but more from the idea that short periods of time have a way of echoing deep into the future—the profundity of one moment containing all of time, forwards and backwards.
