My first aspirations to be a musician came from wanting to be a pianist. These 4 pieces are inspired by that quintessential sound that characterizes the music that first engaged my interest in wanting to play. This is, historically, the origins of the modern piano from the Romantic era, and in these works I attempt to invoke a musical past and a subjective relationship to it. The piano, for me, is like a time machine to re-create a historical past and access a personal one.
